While supporting Travis Kelce on Sunday, Jason Kelce wore two “Big Yeti” t-shirts, and the explanation behind the nickname dates back to Travis’ college days.
Jason, 36, often refers to his younger brother as “Big Yeti” on the brothers’ joint podcast, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, so when Jason got the chance to see Travis, 34, play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, he made sure to show his support by referring to one of his favorite nicknames.
On an October 2022 episode of the podcast, Jason said, “Big Yeti is the best nickname you’ve ever had.”
The brothers then shared the origin of the nickname, which Travis earned during his time at the University of Cincinnati, where he played pickup basketball during football practice “quite a bit,” according to Jason, and was often on the skins side of shirts-and-skins pickup games.
“I had the big beard, the long hair, the chest hair, the back hair, the arm hair, the leg hair… I was just a big ole Yeti out there, man.” The homies were calling me ‘Big Yeti’ because I was a low post player, and I just handed out work in the post.
A t-shirt with the slogan “Big Yeti” was seen by Jason Kelce and his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, as they were photographed in upstate New York for Sunday’s matchup between the Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. A yeti-version of Travis Kelce holding a football and a basketball hoop with the podcast name was printed on the yellow t-shirt from Batamtee.
When Jason arrived at the game, he had changed his outfit for the first time of the night, wearing a red t-shirt emblazoned with yellow letters spelling out “Big Yeti” as he joined Taylor Swift, Cara Delevingne, and other Travis’ friends in his suite.
Jason didn’t keep his shirt on for very long, as he was too thrilled by Travis and the Chiefs’ impressive performance. When Travis scored his first touchdown, Jason immediately took off his shirt and yelled with excitement while holding a beer. Later, he left the suite and headed to the snowy stands where he greeted both Bills and Chiefs fans, chugged a beer, and returned to the suite effortlessly.

In a text he shared on X, presumably from Kylie’s mom, Jason’s middle daughter Elliotte, 22, had a hilarious reaction to the shirtless scene. “Ellie said ‘Dad’s boobs are showing!’,” Jason wrote.
Jason wrote, “Buffalo is awesome, the energy is contagious. Such an incredible experience!”
In addition to helping the Chiefs advance to the AFC Championship and making Jason the subject of several funny memes, Sunday’s game marked the first time his wife and he hung out with Swift. As people loved the shots of Swift, Kylie, and Jason chatting in the suite during the game, the internet went into a frenzy.
When Jason was in the stands, he sat with a young fan and hoisted her up so Swift could get a better view of the sign as he showed Swift her poster. After the girl, who was clad in Bills colors, waved to Swift, she and the Eagles star posed for a picture, and everyone cheered.
As a result of his Philadelphia Eagles being knocked out of the playoffs last weekend, Jason was able to attend the Kansas City Chiefs’ playoff win. As a result of the loss, there has been some discussion about whether or not the center will retire after this season – his thirteenth with the Eagles – but he has remained silent so far.
After the Jan. 15 game, Jason informed his teammates that he would retire, but later said on his podcast that he was too emotional to “make that decision.”
“I’m not trying to be dramatic,” he said. “I really am not.
